Saving the Survivors was founded in 2012 by Dr Johan Marais to attend to injured endangered wildlife that has fallen victim to poaching or traumatic incidents. Whilst Saving the Survivors will attend to the needs of any animal that survives a poaching incident, most of our efforts have been directed to Rhino given the vicious attacks many of them have fallen victim to.
Due to the significant rise in poaching incidents, the number of victims is rapidly increasing. Many poaching victims have been given a chance of survival by undergoing various interventions and surgical procedures performed by the STS team. Most of these wild animals are treated in their natural habitat, as transporting injured wildlife increases the risk and trauma experienced by these animals.
Every case encountered is unique and tests the teams™ resolve. STS is fortunate to collaborate with world-renowned clinical specialists and conservation groups, and we are grateful for the unwavering support of the public.

HELP US SAVE THE SURVIVORS
On behalf of all the rhino survivors:
Thanks so much for supporting us!
Rhino calves have an incredibly strong bond with their mothers and only ween at 18 months. In natural environments the calves stay with their mothers for up to three years.
Unfortunately, many poached rhinos also leave a calf behind. The surviving calves have experienced the traumatic slaughter of their own mother. We do whatever we canto give these beautiful rhino babies hope and a future.
